ABOUT GRACE ON WINGS

Inspired by the need of two young Indianapolis girls who suffer from a genetic bone disorder that requires regular visits to a Baltimore specialist — more than 11 hours away by car — we researched available charitable air ambulance services in the Midwest and were disappointed to find only a few in existence in the entire country. As told to us by the largest non-medical charity transport company, the need for air ambulance charity service is HUGE.

Many people are unable to afford the transport to get the medical care they so desperately need. With the support of charitable funding, Grace on Wings provides transport to patients who are needing to go for important treatment throughout the United States

Pastor Lonnie has over 30 years of pastoral experience having served rural, urban and university congregations before he accepted the call to be the founding pastor of Fox River Congregational Church in Pewaukee Wisconsin. He has advanced degrees in Religion, Divinity as well as a Doctorate in Ministry. Lonnie’s passion is to help people connect with God and further realize their full potential as followers of Christ.

Shelli Engle, RN

Chief Nurse/Event Coordinator & Pilot

Shelli has been a registered nurse for 31 years working on a trauma unit, pre-op, post-op, recovery and in the OR. Hal and Shelli have been friends for 20 of those years as co-workers, neighbors and church family. Shelli has been with the ministry since its inception. She has been involved in the planning of the annual galas and for the past several years have taken over as Chief flight nurse planning missions as well as being involved in many other aspects of the day to day operations.

Flight Operations & Scheduler

Mike has served with Grace On Wings for many years, putting on multiple hats. Mike is a Veteran of the United Stated Air Force, serving as a Air Traffic Controller. Mike then worked for the FAA for 43 years, as well as being part of the Lockheed Martin’s “Next Generation ATC” designing and testing it across the nation. Mike serves as our flight operations following and helping schedule our flights across the country.

Administrative Assistant

Chelsea has been with Grace on Wings since its inception. She was initially involved with the hog roast then soon started spending her summers at the office becoming GOW’s administrative assistant while she was in high school. Since that time, she has graduated from IU with her BSN and works full time in a critical care unit at a local hospital.

Grace On Wings is a non-profit public charity organization under IRS code 501(c)(3) that provides charity air ambulance services within the United States and is based out of the Indy South Greenwood Airport.

Grace On Wings is a member of The Air Medical Physician Association (AMPA), The Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS), and The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA).

Grace on Wings is certified by the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) commission.
