Mission Report

Patricia is a 61 year old mom of 10.
She and her husband are originally from Ottawa, Canada. She herself is from a large family. They moved to Atlanta about 20 years ago for her husband’s job and then transferred here to Indiana.

Patricia became unconscious at home in early February and was rushed to the hospital where she was diagnosed with diabetes, her blood sugar was in the 600’s. She has since had some brain trauma as a result and is unable to speak or move. Her daughter Nadine contacted us to transport her mom to Atlanta to a facility that specializes in this type of neurological evaluation and treatment. Nadine made the trip with her mom.

Pat did very well during the flight and had her eyes opened during most of the time as she gazed out of the window. Nadine shared with us that on the day her mom was rushed to the hospital all 10 of her children were at her bedside immediately. They range in age from 17 years to 40.
Several of them still live in Atlanta, which made their decision that much easier. Those who live here in Indiana had all gone down to Atlanta yesterday to be there when she arrives today.

Besides being a busy mom of 10 Pat worked as a paralegal. She is also an avid gardener and loves being outdoors. Nadine said that her mom would be outdoors from morning to evening at times.

We arrived in Atlanta and were escorted to her room by the staff whom were all very friendly and welcoming.
It was great to see all of Pat’s children there as well. This is a family of great faith in God. As we put Pat in her new bed and prayed for her we were also joined by the staff.

The doctor came in immediately and began speaking with Nadine gathering the information he needed to quickly begin the process of helping this family. Please continue to pray for this family as this is a 6 week evaluation and if things go well Pat will be able to progress to further rehab.

2 COR. 4:1518
THEREFORE WE DO NOT LOSE HEART. THOUGH OUTWARDLY WE ARE WASTING AWAY, YET INWARDLY WE ARE BEING RENEWED DAY BY DAY. FOR OUR LIGHT AND MOMENTARY TROUBLES ARE ACHIEVING FOR US AN ETERNAL GLORY THAT FAR OUTWEIGHS THEM ALL. SO WE FIX OUR EYES NOT ON WHAT IS SEEN, BUT ON WHAT IS UNSEEN.

Thank you to Hal, John and Danny for sharing this mission with me.

Many blessings and may the God of grace and peace be with each of you,

Shelli Engle RN
