Mission Report
So as many of you may remember it was just 2 days ago that we had the privilege of transporting Amal and her family from Indy down to Houston, Texas. Well she had her appointment yesterday (Monday) as planned for a second opinion about her cancer and God has answered her prayer. The doctors there were able to offer her some hope with a new medication to try and now it is time to go back home. Not only is there hope with this new medication but she will also be able to be back in her hometown to while trying it.

Being able to do this in familiar surroundings is huge as many times we thrive so much better when we can be close to our families and have their support. Ahh, yet another answer to prayer!

JOB 6:8 “OH, THAT I MIGHT HAVE MY REQUEST, THAT GOD WOULD GRANT WHAT I HOPE FOR

As we greeted this family again for the 2nd time it was a little like a family reunion. It was obvious that we were all quite happy to see one another. The walk to the plane was even fun as Amal held on to Peter’s hand I turned to catch a picture of the two of them and Peter (being his adorable self) held up the “peace” sign as a gesture of fun. We all laughed and continued on. Each of us took our now familiar seats aboard Abe we fastened our seat belts, put on our headphones and took to the skies.

As like most families we caught up with the events over the past few days and shortly into our flight both Peter and Amal rested quietly. Sami had brought along some cheese and crackers and shared it with Lisa and I as the three of us continued to share conversation.

We had left much later for this particular flight than the one previously which enabled us to enjoy a magnificent sunset and the beauty of the night sky that God alone had prepared. All very breathtaking as only He can do. Once we arrived back in Indy it was already late and a car was waiting for Amal and her family. We prayed together and hugged one another as we said good bye. As a final gesture we were all able to stop and pose for a group / family photo in front of Nellie as the driver was kind enough to play photographer for us.

I mentioned earlier that this new medication has given Amal some hope. What exactly is hope? Hope is a want or desire to believe in something, more of a “thought process” if you will. Isn’t hope what our whole world is looking for? The question is where are we looking? Many times it is in material possessions or other people. Temporarily we may find contentment in these things but none of them can truly fulfill that need within us. Where does God’s word tell us to seek hope?

LAM. 3:25 THE LORD IS GOOD TO THOSE WHOSE HOPE IS IN HIM TO THE ONE WHO SEEKS HIM

There it is! We are to seek our hope in Him and Him alone not in material things or other people. This is how we all as believers begin our relationship with the Lord. From there we move on to belief, faith, trust and a confident assurance as our relationship with our Heavenly Father grows. We all mature through this process at a different speed.

TITUS 1:2 A FAITH AND KNOWLEDGE RESTING ON THE HOPE OF ETERNAL LIFE, WHICH GOD, WHO DOES NOT LIE, PROMISED BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF TIME.

Are we sharing this hope that He has given us to those who are lost and broken in this world? Are we coming along side of new believers? Make no mistake the hope of all of humanity can never be found in earthly possessions nor that of other people but only in our Lord and Savior, the Ancient of Days, Christ Jesus.

This world is so quickly falling into the hands of Satan we need not look far to witness this, it is obvious all around us. No more excuses, our time on this earth is short. God is counting on us who know Him. Let us stand for what we know to be the truth and share the only hope there truly is. Our future is with Him and He desires all to come to Him.

ROMANS 15:13 MAY THE GOD OF HOPE FILL YOU WITH ALL JOY AND PEACE AS YOU TRUST IN HIM, SO THAT YOU MAY OVERFLOW WITH HOPE BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

I praise God for allowing me to share in this mission along side of Hal and Lisa.

May the God of peace be with you.

Many Blessings
Shelli Engle RN
