Mission Report
On April 1st, Grace on Wings was blessed with the opportunity to make its 294th flight. This flight was to Destin, Florida to pick up Abigail Goldsbach and take her to a rehab facility Evansville, IN. Abby had been a patient at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for the last 30 days.
Abby lived in Destin where she worked for Wyndham Hotels. On March 1st, Abby’s life was changed forever. She had an unfortunate accident where she fell down some stairs taking a blow to the back of her head. The fall resulted in a basilar skull fracture and a subdural hematoma. Her injuries required her to be intubated and put on a ventilator.

Abby is now awake but has the lingering after effects often seen with a traumatic brain injury. She will need long term rehabilitation for her neurological injuries. Abby and her family have a long and difficult road ahead of them as she goes through her rehabilitation. Fortunately, Abby has a large family who lover her very much and who are determined to help her work toward the best possible outcome.

Abby’s mother, Beth, wrote the following words to us in the Grace on Wings journal.

“March 1st my daughter Abby, 32 years old fell down her stairs at home. She was in a coma for 2 weeks and had a traumatic brain injury. Today, 4 weeks later, we are flying back home from Destin, FL where Abby lived. We were able to find Grace on Wings through a Facebook page we set up for Abby. Someone made a comment about them and told us about their excellent service and desire to have God in their ministry to transport loved ones. Praise God for his mercy and help when called upon. Abby was not ambulatory for commercial flights and we were blessed with this service to get Abby back home to start rehab with her large family.

The pilot, Hal prayed over Abby and our flight before we took off. So cool!! Moments like this, the accident, crying out for help because Abby didn’t have insurance reaffirms my faith in a God that LOVES and will NEVER leave me even at my darkest times. Thank you Grace on Wings. Superb”.

Grace on Wings is thankful to God for the opportunity he gave us to help Abby and her family at their greatest time of need. We pray for her continued recovery over the coming months.
