Lavanna R. was transported to Fort Smith, Arkansas. Lavanna who is 38 years old suffers from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death.

She was traveling to Florida to see the beach and Dolphins which she has never seen before. Unfortunately, Lavanna never got to see dolphins or the beach, she became very ill and was taken to the regional hospital where she has been in the ICU on a ventilator for over a week. Lavanna’s family prayer was to get home and allow her to be surround with her family before she passes.

Flight crew for this mission was Pilot Hal Blank, Co-Pilot David McGill, Tami Blank, PA-C, Teresa Switzer, RN and Stephen Richey, RRT

God Bless,

Hal
